An Ode To Fall

I thought it was about time to write the another "Ode To My Favorite Season" post - Fall!

Changing Leaves

It's September and I think we can officially call it Autumn now, even if it still is pretty warm outside.  However, the leaves are starting to change!  I'm afraid a lot of them are going to be brown this year because it was so dry, but there are a few bright yellow ones showing up!  They also have that fall sound.  I'm sure I can tell a distinct different between a summer leaf-rustle and an autumn leaf-rustle.

Fall Clothes

I went to Forever 21 this week looking for some pants that would fit, and I really lucked out - they were having a sweater sale, and I got three sweaters that should fit through a good portion of the rest of my pregnancy, two pairs of pants, and some glove-type things that I'm going to turn into fake leg warmers to wear under my boots.  Definitely spent more than I meant to, but it's okay, because it is all maternity-freindly, and I needed some clothes that would work with my expanding middle.

I've been looking for some maternity pants lately, but for some reason I can't find a pair that will fit me!  Even the two pairs that I wore with Wyatt are too baggy for me to wear now, and when I find something that's not baggy it's too short.  What is with all these short pants everywhere?  This is a constant problem for me.

Thankfully I am carrying a bit higher with this pregnancy, so I went one pant size up at Forever 21 and I'm able to button them, so I think they should last a while!  And since their clothes are fairly inexpensive I was able to justify buying them as maternity/post-baby pants, even if they don't fit next year.

I had my first salted caramel mocha of the season the other day, and oh my, it tasted so good.  I really need to find a recipe and try making these myself.

Fall Candles

I stopped at Yankee candle last week and took advantage of their votive candle sale and got a bunch of fall scents.  My house smells really good right now!  Here are my favorites:

Back to School Mops

Is it weird that Mops feels like Back-to-School to me?  Maybe it's because it's the closest thing I have these days, but it makes it feel like fall.   I went to a couple meetings last year to check it out, and I decided to give it a try this year, and I'm liking it so far!  This past meeting we painted mugs for us to use the rest of the year in leu of name tags.  Maybe I'll try to sneak a picture of it at the next meeting.

Fall Craft Day

My sister had a great idea to do a fall craft day!  We've never done this before, and we all met up at my mom's house on Saturday to make fall crafts.  I made these Starbucks-inspired, cream cheese pumpkin muffins to bring along:

And my mom had cream puffs, candy corn, and apple cider for us to snack on too!

My mom and sister brought stuff to make wreaths and we set to work:

(My sister may or may not look so perfect because I told her I wanted a candid picture and to look pleasant - ha!)

I think they turned out pretty well!

We also made these leaf candle-holder jars (that was my contribution - I brought the jars and modge podge).

Wyatt got into the leaves when we weren't looking.

It was a really fun day, and definitely put me in a fall-ish mood!  Good idea, Rach!

Lots of fun fall-ish things to love right now, but everything about the season is just my favorite.  It's something in the air, something about Autumn that just makes me feel alive and like all is right with the world.  It will always be my favorite season!

  3. Oh how I love everything about fall! I just broke out my fall scented candles :) But with all of our basement work, I might have to keep my fall decorations in the box for this year :( Everything just gets so dusty...I will just have to live vicariously through the fall decorations of others! Love the wreath!

  4. I love everything about this post! I'm having the same problem with maternity jeans! They were not made for my body type for sure! And I am very jealous of your fall wreath making day. That looks like a lot of fun:) I'm working on my fall wreath but I'm doing one of those yarn wrap ones and it takes forever!

  5. My favorite too! I SO miss the midwest in the fall.

Have you looked at any of the maternity pant tutorials on Pinterest? I'm thinking I'll try that next time. I get frustrated with the S-M-L sizing, especially with jeans.

Mugs are such a good idea for nametags at MOPS! If we weren't moving this year I would have gotten involved with the crafts... last year we glued tissue paper onto a wooden frame...
