Makeup Galore

It's time for Makeup!
I'm a fan of makeup. Some people don't wear makeup at all, which I have a hard time understanding, because if you use it correctly it can look so natural and can enhance your good features! Or if you're more of a makeup nut like me, you can have fun experimenting with different colors and brands.
I think it all started with lip gloss. When I was a girl I loved lip gloss! Remember Lip Smackers? I had about forty of those. Any new flavor I could find, I got! My favorites were the old ones - Dr. Pepper, Bubblegum, Blueberry. I loved the sparkly buttercream flavored one! That was my favorite during that period when glitter was so popular for girls - cheek glitter, lip glitter, eye glitter. Glitter, glitter, glitter! Once you get older you have to get away from that though; now it's shimmer, which I enjoy just as much.
So here are some of my favorite products for this summer!

Eye shadow: Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips in Smoky Green Eyes. Derek let me buy this one recently, and I love it! The colors are a little darker, because it's the smokey collection, but if I need a softer look I just use my big powder brush and sweep it over my eyelid a few times. But if I'm getting ready for a night out with Derek I just leave it as is - more dramatic that way.

Mascara: Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara in very black! This is some good stuff - I felt like it definitely lengthened my lashes.

Highlighter: Mary-Kate and Ashley Eye Drama Powder Eye Color in white (because I'm fair). This stuff comes with a hand little applicator, and I just put it right under my eyebrow and at the inside corner of my eye - it helps brighten my eyes and draws attention to my eyes. I typically like to highlight my eyes most, so I spend more time on my eyes. If I'm going lighter on the eye shadow sometimes I'll take a little bit of this on my powder brush and brush it on top of my cheekbones (that's if I'm in the mood to put more emphasis on my cheekbones, rather than my eyes). Multi-functional; I love this stuff too!

Cover-up/Foundation: CoverGirl TruBlend Liquid Foundation in Ivory. I don't really use it all over my face, just lightly under my eyes to help cover up those dark circles. It's a foundation that I could actually find in my shade - I have very fair skin.

Powder: New York Color Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder in translucent. Always need that translucent powder! I don't leave the house without it. It helps even out my skin tone and set my cover-up so it lasts all day.

Lips: Maybelline Superstay Lip Color (Color number is 720; this is a really natural color for me). Once again, since I like to highlight my eyes, I usually go lighter on the lips. This stuff is nice because it's supposed to last about eight hours. I think it really does! It also comes with a handy Superstay lip balm. Good stuff.

That's what is typically in my makeup bag. What about you guys? Any products you really love? What colors do you like to go with?

P.S. I got a haircut recently! Not a drastic change, but I think it turned out nicely. My mom cuts my hair, and I thought I'd show off her handiwork once!

TruBlend is my absolute favorite foundation. I got it in a pack a couple of times where it came with the matching powder, together for like, $7. I should have stocked up! What a steal! It's pretty much the only foundation I've found that doesn't make me look orange. CoverGirl's regular stuff makes me look orange no matter how light the shade is--even the lightest color they have is too dark for me. It's insane. Does the NYC powder work well with the TruBlend? I might have to look into getting those two together if they're good. That way I can justify the uber high price on the TruBlend! Yay! You're awesome :]

(Oh, and I use NYC mascara (black), eyeliner(black), and blush (sutton place peach is the color name!), and for eye shadow... gosh, I don't even remember what brand it is, but there are two colors and the set is called "hazelnut." ;)

And one more thing! Lipstick! I've recently fallen in LOVE with lipstick. My favorite is Estee Lauder in ... Cafe Latte, I think? I got it free a while back and it's perfect!

I think the NYC powder is great! If you get the translucent powder it goes on more or less sheer, so it should work no matter how fair or dark you are. I love it! That is a good deal for the TruBlend with the powder!
Ooo, Caffe Latte lipstick? Sounds really pretty!

I love the haircut! Your mom is very talented!

I'm not really a makeup person, though I do wear it! I stay away from eye makeup because I have gigantic eyes, and doing much to them can make them look unnaturally large, like a lemur, haha.

Thanks for sharing your makeup!! I may check out the Mary-Kate and Ashley Eye Drama Powder Eye Color.

I'm like you. I like to wear makeup...and I usually keep it natural looking. Have you tried Bare Minerals? It's my favorite. It totally smooths out my complexion. :)

I haven't tried Bare Minerals, but I'm always seeing commercials on it! I've also talked to some people who use it and really like it. I might have to try it now! It looks like nice stuff.

I use the same shade of TruBlend as you! Yay for being pale! I also like playing around with makeup, especially on my eyes. It's fun. I really love Avon eye shadows and liners. I use Maybelline Great Lash mascara (the stuff in the green and pink tube) but I've been trying to find another kind - maybe I'll try yours! The only thing I don't really use is lipstick. I use Burt's Bees pomegranate lip gloss, which has a bit of a tint to it.
