Wallcoloraphobia!

This past weekend I did something that I've been thinking about doing for a long time. Several moths actually. I finally painted our bathroom!

I haven't done it before, because honestly I'm a little scared of color. I didn't grow up with a lot of colors on the walls, and I was afraid that if I tried to pick a color I wouldn't actually like it on the wall. I have wallcoloraphobia.

Derek taped and put the plastic down, and I started painting. Derek helped me paint when I needed a break and we finally finished it! We had to take everything out of the bathroom, obviously, and I didn't get it all put back in until this morning.

I decided on "Lovely Lavendar" Behr paint, because it seemed like it would go the best with my decor. I think it turned out pretty well - I couldn't be entirely sure if I'd liked it until I got everything back on the walls, but now that I put everything back I think it is a good color with my decorations. So I'm happy! Here's some pictures of the process:

The color makes the whole room look more interesting, because the bathroom counter, the floor and the walls were white before. I think it turned out nicely! It definitely gives the bathroom that something it needed.

Now that I've tried painting something a color for the first time ever, and it wasn't too scary, I might try painting the spare bedroom a color sometime. I'm slowly getting over the wallcoloraphobia. But I'll probably have to think about it for a while. Probably several months again.

Yay for finishing the painting! I love, love, LOVE color, but unfortunately I don't have furniture that does well with loads of color. One day...

The bathroom looks great! I'm glad you finally dived into the world of color. I'm the total opposite of you, I'm afraid of white on the walls!

Love the lavander! I think if I ever do a purple bathroom again, I will use this shade as the lighter hue works better in a small space like a bathroom. I'll leave the color I love and used for a larger room with more light. BTW- the towels in the final shot- are they purple and teal? Or is is just "blue"? I ask because I used teal accents in my purple bathroom.

Hmm, they're kind of an ice blue color. Teal would be pretty with purple though!
