They just don't play programs like the on the radio anymore. The last remaining hold-out is the Adventures in Odyssey program that Focus on the Family produces (which I love, by the way - but that's another post).
Well, my friends, I've rediscovered old time radio! I was just browsing the podcast section of the iTunes store (yes, the rosy glow of my new iPod Nano has not worn off yet), and I stumbled across an Old Time Radio section! They had all kinds of old radio programs - superheroes, detective stories, sci-fi, mysteries, thrillers! All from the golden age of radio.
I subscribed to The Lone Ranger, a Superheroes podcast with a variety of superhero programs, and The Shadow.
Now I can know by personal experience what is the name of the Lone Ranger's nephew's horse. Now I can listen with anticipation as the wondering crowds cry "It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Superman!" I'll get the shivers up my spine as the voice of Orson Welles asks "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men . . ."
Maybe I'm I dork, but I'm completely excited!

That's totally awesome! A couple years ago my mom and I were driving in... Michigan? Anyhoo, we were surfing stations and we came across one that was playing old radio shows! It was fantastic!! If you're a dork then I am too!
That's realy cool!
Fun! I might just have to try those out. I'm sure my husband would love the old superhero ones!
Sooo fun!!!
Of course my "radio addiction" was always to Adventures in Odyssey.
That's so great to hear! Over here in the UK we do still have a few old time radio programmes running. The most popular being 'The Archers' which has been running for 70 years. I always recommend it to people :)
Good on ya!
How cool!! BTW, I love Adventures in Odyssey too!
that is great! I totally grew up listening to Adventures in Odyssey!
Seriously??? I'm gonna have to check that out! I LOVE Adventures in Odyssey! Some of my favorite kid memories.
