Such Is Life

I'm off to get my passport today!

Yes, I have no passport. And this past week I found myself bemoaning the fact that I didn't just apply for it last fall.

Derek and I are trying to decide where to go on vacation this year. I saved up so money, so we're hoping to go on a nice trip. But we had to pass up a bed-and-breakfast deal in Ireland, and an all-inclusive resort deal in Jamaica because I don't have my passport!

I wanted to cry, because they were really good deals. Five nights in Ireland for $600 a person? Seven nights in an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica for $800 a person? And both of those included plane tickets! Aren't you all just disappointed with me?

So I'm off to apply for my passport at the post office - but alas, it's too late to get either of those vacation deals. We just couldn't bring ourselves to book our vacation before we have my passport in hand. So I don't know where we're going to go.

Any ideas? Somewhere that I won't need a passport? Or anyplace that I should look for a good last-minute deal once I get my passport, probably around April?

I'm still just kicking myself for not applying for it last fall.

Se la vie.

P.S. I can't believe I forgot to mention where we are getting those deals! Funjet.com and Priceline.com.

The prices are just amazing, so if you are looking for a cheap vacation, check out the "Hot Deals" and "Pricebreaker Deals" sections of the pages. If you are willing to go on a spring vacation some of the deals are just incredible!

We found the Jamaica deal on Funjet and Ireland on Priceline. Those specific deals are gone now, but there are alot of other ones, so check it out!

Aw, bummer! Hopefully next time a great deal like that comes around you'll already have your passport! I don't have a passport either. I'm thinking about getting an enhanced license in a few months, though, since we're in one of the states that has them. That way I wouldn't need a passport! I would have gotten one when I recently renewed my license, but I wouldn't have had proof of residence yet!

The Pacific Northwest! Not sure where you live, but I could spend all my days up there.

Oh you poor dear! I would be sooo disappointed. Ireland? *sigh* BUT, you don't need a passport for Hawaii... ;)

wow, I'd love to know where you are looking to gt those deals! I have my passport but I've yet to change it over to my "married" name... We are doing trips to chicago, atlanta, florida, new england and new york this year. Trying to stay pretty close to home just in terms of money. We hope to go out of the country or to the pacific northwest next year. But seriously, if I were finding deals like the ones you mentioned-we'd be going out of the country in a heart beat, please share! :)

Ah, getting a passport is annoying, though, so I totally understand why you haven't done it. :)

I have no idea where you should go, but if you decide to go to Cozumel, do NOT get a meal of fish tacos with a beverage of orangeade at the restaurant straight off the dock. That meal successfully placed Dave in bed or at the toilet for 2/3 of our honeymoon. :)

You could always come to Virginia Beach and stay with us for free! ;)

And yes, please do share those deals! We're still just saving for the big 2012 London trip, but if I could go anywhere locally right now, it'd probably be Northern California, the coast of Maine or Disney World. I'd like to go to Disney World. :)

I don't have a passport either! And I'm slightly uncomfortable flying long distances. But with deals like that I might have to get a passport and get over my discomfort because inexpensive vacationing sounds wonderful!

I was not at all eager to go on a vacation until I clicked on the links.

*sigh*

Someday. Someday we'll be able to afford to go on a hot, sunny, tropical vacation.

I had to get a passport before I got married due to our honeymoon location. It was a little lame when I had to send it in to change my name on it, but I at least I don't have to worry about it for 10 years. Then hopefully I can have a better picture taken for the next one!

Thanks for the tips for vacations! We can't wait to take a real vacation again!
