Farewell, Charlotte Russe Refuge Perfume

Note: For an update on where to buy Charlotte Russe Refuge perfume, see the post "Where To Buy Charlotte Russe Refuge Perfume".

I'm pretty bummed.

Why, you may ask?

Well, on Monday I decided it was about time that I bought another bottle of a perfume that I really enjoy, Refuge from Charlotte Russe.

It's a nice fresh scent, and a little fruity (which I usually don't like, but it just works with this perfume). I think it's a great scent.

For some reason I associate the scent with the fall, so I wanted to get more before the weather starts turning cooler (which is really only a month and a half away).

The best part is that a 1.7 Fl. oz. bottle is only $10.99, which I think is very reasonable.

So I came to the counter to buy the bottle of perfume, and what does the sales clerk tell me?

That they've stopped making the perfume, and when it's gone, it's gone.

What? I do not understand the logic in stopping production of the perfume. It's a pretty good seller because it's inexpensive and smells wonderful. I just don't understand.

Well, in light of that revelation, I purchased two bottles.

And I may have to go back and buy one or two more, since they're getting rid of it altogether once it sells out in stores.

Maybe it won't be forever. Maybe they'll just stop producing it for a while, and then make it again.

Then again, maybe not.

How depressing.

I hate it when that happens! Bath and Body Works just stopped producing my favorite scent: brown sugar and fig. I stocked up, so at least it will last me awhile. But I was bummed!

I had that happen with a Rob Smith perfume I adore. I bought 3 bottles on eBay for half the price. So even though it hasn't been produced for over a year. Is till have my supply :)

That's so annoying. My old perfume was GREAT and it was so cheap! I loved it! Smells fantastic, Paul loves it, and it's a light scent... and then they discontinued it. So lame.

I had to find a different scent to use. The one I'm using now is Bath and Body Works Sensual Amber. I love it, but Paul doesn't; he likes the smell but it's too strong for him.

I've come to the conclusion that when a company starts producing a perfume, they should be ready to commit to producing it for as long as the company exists, 'cause it really is a hassle trying to find a new perfume!

I definitely just blogged at you. Haha.

ugh, don't you hate when that happens?

I hate when this happens! I have an eye shadow that I LOVE by Physicians Formula and they don't make it anymore. When my supply is gone I don't know what I am going to do!

This is so frustrating! I just don't get why companies do this. Sunsilk stopped producing a cream/gel that would make normally straight hair soft and very curly. :o(

bummer! I agree...I don't get the logic there

That seems to happen a lot in the world of cologne. I don't understand it!

I hate that! B&BW makes me crazy that way. I looooooove Honeysuckle hand soap and they didn't have it when I went last week. :( At least you went before it was totally out!

Why do perfume and makeup companies do that? I get that they are always updating their products, but why do they have to get rid of a perfectly good product that sells and that people like?

That's how I feel when I find out Disney movies are going into "the vault." I just want to cry and stomp my feet usually!

ohhh what a shame! I went through a perfume stage a few years back and still have quite the stash that I'm trying to work though...I don't think I'm going to need perfume for awhile. I would be so sad though if they discontinued my two favs! At least you picked up a couple of extras!

I hate when that happens! It seems to happen a lot, especially at Bath and Body Works for me!

I'm sorry!! I absolutely hate when that happens! It almost makes me want to completely stock up on my things with buying two at a time just in case!

I called the store by me and they said it had just been rebranded - its the same scent just now in a bottle that says "Charlotte Russe". The bottle is clear with silver lettering. She assured me it was the same scent.

It took me a while to search online, only your site explain the fully details, bookmarked and thanks again.

So who knows if you'll ever see this.. but I just went to Charlotte Russe and bought a bottle of perfume that only says "charlotte russe" on it. Weird thing.. when I hold it up to the light, I can clearly see the outline of swirls on one side and the word "refuge' on the other side, like it was embossed but not inked/printed. I don't know what refuge smelled like but this perfume is mellow and lightly floral and using unused refuge bottles.

I had a bottle of refuge, it was my favorite perfume I've owned. A girl I know stole my bottle out of my car, I haven't been able to replace it. I wish they would have continued this scent, it was amazing!

I I do NOT like the Refuge...either of them! I LOVE the one that just says Charlotte Russe on it, but I went today in Indianapolis, Indiana and they did not have any! Alls they had was the Refuge so she called 3 other stores in Indy and they didn't have it either so she called Ft. Wayne and nope they didn't either but the lady told her its the same as the refuge AND had the same ingredients in it lol and NO its NOT even close in smells! Also if she didn't have it how can she say ingredients are the same? If anyone can tell me where I can get just the Charlotte Russe perfume...I would forever be grateful!! Just so all of you know there's plenty of both Refuge here at the Indiana stores lol but I just don't like it and want my Charlotte Russe back! Thx!!

I love this perfume. I first discovered it when my friend was wearing it, and I knew I had to get it. She had the yellow one, which I'm pretty sure is discontinued now..I have found bottles on ebay (even brought one for a cool $4 brand new!) I've also seen a pink bottle but I'm not sure if theyre the same. I haven't been able to test if the pink bottle is the same scent as the yellow one, but ill continue to stock up on the yellow one. I never get sick of it.. Very light and sweet.
