Precious Times

On Friday Wyatt and I went on our first walk outside! I broke out my baby carrier and strapped him in, grabbed my iPod, and off we went on the half-mile walk to our mailboxes.

He did great! He settled into the carrier nicely, grabbed onto the front of my shirt, and promptly went to sleep. Carrying him to our mailboxes reminded me a bit of when I was pregnant with him. It's kind of the same thing - 10-12 pounds of baby strapped to the front of me. I think I may have inadvertently assumed the pregnancy waddle.

As I walked, I started thinking about how this time last year I would take that walk to the mailboxes, praying on the way for the Lord to give us a baby. Who would have thought that a year later I'd be walking to the mailboxes with the answer to our prayer in my arms?

The sun was shining. There was a gentle breeze blowing the trees. I could hear the sound of my baby gently snoring as we went. I just soaked it all in.

Sometimes I think I get so focused on future goals and dreams, that I may lose sight of the precious moments right in front of me. And I don't want that to happen. I want to treasure every moment of this time with just me and baby Wyatt, before he grows up or gets too big to carry to the mailboxes anymore.

This is a precious time. I don't want to let it fly by me unnoticed. I want to pause, take mental pictures, and thank the Lord for every minute of it, while today is still today.

Hoping you all take time to capture your own precious moments this week,

God is so good to give us those moments throughout the weeks, months, and years. There are times when having children puts strain on emotions, but He is SO good to remind us of how wonderful this moment we are living in truly is. How eternal it is. Soak 'em up, girl! There will be so many more to come.

Mmm. it's so important as mothers to cherish the little moments! They fly by SO quickly. Peyton (my almost 2 year old) was sick recently and I rocked her to sleep. After only a few minutes my arms were sore... I looked down at her and couldn't help but cry as I remembered when she was just a little tiny 5 pound newborn in my arms... now she's so big I can barely rock her to sleep. Time flies so quickly and our little ones grow so fast... but if we cherish each moment along the way, we can almost slow down time... even for a moment.
