Two Months, Baby!

My baby boy is two months old today!

We had an appointment with the pediatrician last Thursday. They measured Wyatt's head circumference and length, and weighed him. He is now 22 1/2 inches long, 10 pounds, 13 ounces, and his head is 15 1/2 inches around!

When he was born he was 20 inches, 6 pounds, 10 ounces, and 13 1/2 inches around his head, so he's grown quite a bit. He's gained over 4 pounds since he was born - he's getting so big! I have a feeling I'll say that every month.

He had some vaccinations at this visit too, and he was a little fussy and clingy the rest of the day - but I didn't mind obliging him when he wanted to snuggle.

--------------------------------------------------

Wyatt learned to smile this month! His smiles are still somewhat rare, because he's still figuring it out, but it makes me melt every time.

He's also making the cutest little cooing noises and baby sighs now - he was doing that at one month as well, but he's even more vocal now. He's a little baby chatter-box. He sighs and babbles when he's happy, and when he's upset he makes these little grumpy noises - not cries, just noises to let you know he's not happy. It's so cute - Derek and I can't help but smile and laugh whenever he starts to "talk" to us!

----------------------------------------------------------

He's still eating well, and he both takes a bottle and nurses easily. He's not sleeping through the night yet, and sleep is still a little unpredictable. Some nights he'll get hungry after 4 hours, and some nights he'll go six hours. Obviously we love the nights when he goes six hours between feedings! His night-time sleep is definitely related to how busy we were doing the day, and whether or not he's going through a growth spurt - I think when he's growing he wakes up to eat more often.

He chews on his fist when he's hungry, and it's pretty much the cutest thing ever.

I rest my case.

We figured out that on those days when he was more fussy than usual he was having some air issues - our doctor suggested infant mylicon, and it seems to help on those bad days. Not sure why some days are worse than others - I've tried to evaluate my diet, but I can't figure out any one food that doesn't agree with him.

----------------------------------------------------------

Generally speaking, Wyatt is a really easy-going content baby. We are definitely blessed. He doesn't cry much at all, really, which was why we were so surprised when he had those few fussy days - it wasn't even that bad, it was just especially fussy for him.

He still gets upset when he's strapped in his car seat, or when we give him a bath. He just doesn't like being strapped in that tight or being naked and cold, I guess! Poor boy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Wyatt also learned to roll over from his stomach to his back this month! Derek told me he was close to rolling from his back to his stomach one night, but he kept getting caught on his arm.

He can push himself up really well during tummy time, and I've noticed his head control has definitely been improving. He loves to lean his head way back and look at the ceiling or sky - people think I'm not supporting his head, but I am - he just likes to look up like that.

He also kicks his legs like crazy when we have floor time, and he kicks them in a crawling rhythm - so if he can just figure out how to lift his body off the floor, he'll be mobile!

He'll seem so old when he can actually crawl - he won't be a newborn anymore. So he can be a non-mobile baby for a while longer, and it'll be alright with me.

-------------------------------------------------------------
Other firsts this month include Wyatt's first basketball game:

His first dinners out with friends:

Our friends, Ashley and Jed.

His first time wearing shoes:

His first walk outside:

His first night with just him and dad:

-----------------------------------------------

A friend asked me if I noticed a personality trait or anything that is similar to the way he was in the womb. I'd say he's definitely a little wiggle worm, but in a peaceful sort of way, just like when he was inside me.

I kind of like it when he gets the hiccups while I'm holding him, because they feel the same way that they felt before he was born.

When he was still in my belly I used to notice that he'd settle down and stop moving when I would sing to him - and he still settles down nicely when I sing to him now. It's precious and special to me that he calms down at the sound of our voices.

He fell asleep in this position - it was so cute.

---------------------------------------------------------

My Sweet Wyatt,

You are growing so big and strong, Baby Boy! I'm amazed at how much you've changed just in the short couple months since you were born. I thank the Lord that you're growing so well, and every time I snuggle you while you're sleeping, I'm just amazed at what the Lord has done for us. I wouldn't trade you for the world.

Love you to the moon and back,

Your Mama

Precious! He reminds me so much of my Q, he was an early crawler, and started inchworming aound at 2months! I had to eliminate all dairy from my diet and that helped so much with both my babies gas. It can take some women up to 2 weeks to get all traces of dairy out of their system, making it difficult to pinpoint.I would alternate mylecon w/ gripe water, too. That helped alot! It's hard on them when they have those bubbles in their tummy! He's a cutie, mama!

Loved this 2 month post!! i cannot believe our babies are already 2months! Savannah will be on Friday! His fussiness sounds a lot like Savannah's, its not that bad, but bad for them! I am pretty sure gas is her big issue as well, the gas drops do seem to help her too. She also seems to have one fussy time each day, usually in the evening. Praise God for our healthy babies!!
