This Past Month . . .

I haven’t blogged much about what we’ve been doing the last month or so.  It’s all going to be compiled into one post now.  I could separate these out into individual posts, but that would just take too much energy today.

Stuff From The Last Month

1.  I planted flower bulbs.  Those who have been reading my blog for a while will remember that I have a notoriously black thumb.  I’m hoping to break that streak and see some flowers coming up this spring!  A girl can dream, right?

2.  I repainted this shelf.  It’s made of metal, but I painted it so it will look like iron with some Martha Stewart brand paint I got at Home Depot.  I think it turned out very well, and it will work nicely in our new downstairs bathroom (which is a post in itself, but I’m not finished setting it up yet, so it will have to wait).

3.  Derek took Wyatt on a Saturday so I had a decent amount of time to work on the quilt for our spare bedroom.  I’m finished somewhere from 25-30% of the quilt blocks, if I had to guess.  I’m hoping to get this done soon, but it’s so hard to sew when Wyatt is awake – he doesn’t like the sound of the sewing machine.  Though it’s been a while since I made the attempt to sew during the day, so maybe it’s time to try it again.

4.  I’ve been figuring out the cloth diaper thing and composing some posts about my thoughts on the subject.  They will hopefully make their debut next week.

5.  We went to a pumpkin patch and corn maze!  We had a lovely time.  I really wanted to get a picture of Wyatt sitting next to some pumpkins, but every time I set him down he got this horrified look on his face and burst into tears.  Apparently he’s not a big fan of pumpkins.  I think we’ll try again next year.

6.  My guys ended up coming to the office to visit me a couple times!  Derek snapped a picture of me holding Wyatt at work – he’s giving me a kiss in this one.  I adore baby kisses.  They are so slobbery and sweet.

7.  Derek got his first elk this year!  It was so exciting, and I’m so proud of him.  We’ll have meat to last us a while now, which is great because we were getting low!  No picture I’m afraid, but hopefully I’ll have a good one to share soon.

8.  My knee has been aching.  When I mentioned this to Derek, he said it was probably because the weather was changing.  He broke his arm when he was younger and said that for several years after that it ached when the weather changed.  I think he’s right, and the fact that I can predict the weather based on how my knee feels kind of makes me feel like an old man.  You know, the “old football injury” line.

Anyway, that’s some of what we’ve been doing.  Of course Wyatt has been doing a lot more this month, but I’m saving it for his 9 month post, so stay tuned!

P.S. Thank you for all the support on the "salvation stories" link up for November! I'm excited that so many of you are going to participate, and I can't wait to read your stories! I'll get a button going straightaway. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, see Monday's post.

I've never been to a pumpkin patch. I'm thinking that will have to change as Sophia gets older. I'm also hoping to grow a couple of plants next spring. I miss having a yard with a garden and flower beds.

How did I miss Monday's post??

Anyway, I have a black thumb too. Hopefully your bulbs will work out and that will give me some hope! The mum I bought for fall is slowly dying outside. Ugh.

Also what kind of sewing machine do you have? I want to start sewing, but I don't know where to!

1. I'm so impressed your making a quilt.

2. I always say I will plant bulbs in the fall and never do it. Maybe this is the year.

3. I think it's hilarious that your knee can now predict the weather.
