Water

One of those New Year’s resolutions that I was forced to write was to drink more water.

It’s not going well.

I’m not sure why I have such a hard time drinking just straight water.  I love drinking water when I’m really thirsty, or when I’m eating something really dry or rich.  But when I’m not feeling particularly thirsty it’s hard to get myself to drink plain water.

I’ve decided I need a strategy, but I haven’t quite decided what it should be yet.

I think part of it should include something like this:

glass-beverage-dispenser

Now doesn’t that just make you want to grab a tall glass of water?

I want to get a cute water dispenser.  If I fill it up with ice, and water, and lemons (just like the picture), I know I’ll drink more.  Because it will be sitting on the counter reminding me all day, and because it looks so good.

And my other strategy might be this:

mio

via

I think I’m going to pick up some of these MiO water flavoring drops today.  Yes, it might be cheating, but it will most likely help me drink more water.

Are you one of those people that like to drink plain water all the time, or do you use a strategy too? How do you get yourself to drink more water? Any other ideas for me?

I definitely struggle with drinking water. It does help me to keep a pitcher in the fridge.

I am the exact same way when it comes to water! I'm going to see a chiropractor/nutritionist about my health issues next week, and I just KNOW she's going to tell me to drink more water! I might have to try out those tips.

I do ok about half of the time, the other half I usually add crystal light (only a small amt instead of the whole thing so it's just a hint of flavor) or make it into a noncaffeinated tea.

I drink a ton of water. When I was pregnant it literally made me throw up. I could not drink it. But I found if it was super ice cold first, then I still could. Weird, right?! But now I really like to have it ice cold still. I usually fill up 3 water bottles every night and put them in my fridge and drink them the next day, along with a few other cups of water. I do like to add lemon at restaurants and stuff and that was another way I could drink it when I was pregnant. Those crystal light packets and stuff are good too!

i have recently become a huge water drinker (i guess due to the pregnancy)but having an awesome water bottle does it for me! i LOVE the camelbak water bottles. they are easy to tote around and kind of fun to drink out of....if that is possible! haha! don't get me wrong...i would prefer a dr. pepper over water on most days. but it helps!

I drink water all day, and with lunch and dinner. Once I lived on my own and couldn't afford much else, I had to get used to it. Being around my husband has helped with my water intake a lot too, since he drinks about a gallon a day!

I drink pretty much only water, and have for about 4 years now. And I drink TONS of water each day. But I used to hate drinking water. I started off by drinking lots of crystal light and ice water with lemon (with a straw). Then I started making sure I always had a water bottle with me. It gets a lot easier, and you will start to like it!

I drink quite a bit of water each day. For a while, I wasn't sure how much I was really consuming so I started measuring a cup or two each time I would refill my glass during the day and then I would write that down on a notebook.

We keep a Brita in the fridge with chilled, filtered water. I find that chilled water is much more appealing to me than lukewarm and our tap water has never been tasty. I occasionally cut lemons and keep them in the fridge to use during the day when I need a little bit of a change (and because my hubby likes them). I don't always drink as much as I need to, but I find I drink a lot more on days I exercise and on those days I don't really want other liquids. Also, if I haven't been getting enough, measuring and keeping a tally is quite motivating to me. Like a little game with myself.

I drink a good amount of water if it's in a tall glass with a straw... or a big water bottle. I LOVE those water containers... you can also do Orange slices too! mmmm.

I really struggle with this. A Coke always sounds better than water. I've been trying to drink more water throughout my pregnancy, and one thing I've found that helps is having a water bottle with you at all times. I fill mine up every morning and keep it next to me on my desk while I work. At home, I'll tote it around with me. It definitely helps to make the water more convenient, and I think the more you drink water, the more you get used to the taste.

oh my gosh, that water cooler picture is divine!

I am a water drinker. I have always been. I am not sure where it started or why. I pour a tall glass and just leave it out on my kitchen table and drink from it as I walk by. Just think about how there are no calories in it, too! :)

i'm SO terrible at drinking, and I should be so much better at it since I'm still nursing & I know I'm at least somewhat dehydrated most days! what is it about plain water that doesn't appeal to me?!?

I don't like plain water either, girl. Except at night right before bed, during the middle of the night, and first thing in the morning. Other than that, it's a struggle to drink it.

Ooh, that's a good idea to have one of those water dispensers on the counter! I might have to do that too - trying to drink more water here as well - but from my experience after using one for a party, you have to rinse it out after a few days or else the lemons/fruit will start to go bad. So, that might be a good encourager to not let the water sit in there for a couple days, and drink it all up right away! ;) But besides that note, I Love flavored water too - and have seen lots of ideas on pinterest - using strawberries, cucumbers, mint... Mmm!

I love to drink water with fruit it in. Gives it a lot more taste, in my opinion. And when I'm really tempted to get coke, I will buy sparkling water and squeeze lemons/limes in it. You know to trick myself into thinking I'm getting sprite or 7UP. ;-)

I'm surprisingly really good about drinking water all day and with meals now, wasn't always the case! I just started always putting a glass a water in front of me all day and would force myself to get up and get more once it was finished. If you're a goal-oriented/competitive person, I'd set a "challenge" for yourself, i.e. 8 full glasses of water a day, or 10, etc. Then you could give yourself a little "reward" for completing X amount of days of the challenge. Just a thought. :)

I promise if you make yourself drink it, you will get used to it. You will love it. You will actually crave it! I know everyone says this - but that's b/c it's true!

I used to HATE drinking water. I just didn't love it. I much preferred Coke, OJ, Coffee, or Sweet Tea. That's all I drank. I quit my regular cokes...and replaced them with Sprite Zero... but eventually i quit those too...& replaced them with Water. And i love water now!

I still crave cokes a LOT. But i don't drink them hardly ever anymore.

I think your cute dispenser trick will REALLY help. Seriously. I have a cute cup that i love that i carry everywhere. If i'm not using it, it's in the fridge b/c i have to have COLD water. I also have a camelbak water bottle & they are great!

I have taught myself to drink water. I don't drink anything else but water all day long. But since I can ignore the glass because its empty and I'm too lazy to get up to refill it is, I double fist it. I fill 2 glasses up and have them beside me so once the 1 is empty, I go for the next without a problem. When I do that, I consume..wait for it...twice as much water. haha

But beyond lemons, I LOVE putting slices of cucumbers in my water. Its SO SO much more refreshing than lemons. You can also do orange slices if you have those. :)
Hope that helps.

I feel bad for not drinking more water but it makes me feel really sick at the moment.

I find it helps if I flavour it with a a bit of lemon, or with some pure orange juice and if it's ice cold.

Having in sight definitely helps, otherwise it's easy just to get on with your day and forget to drink :)

*sigh* I'm fighting with myself over this right now. I'm one of those people who doesn't drink until they're parched. Not good! I find that I drink water better if it's room temp, or straight out of the reverse osmosis tap. That doesn't work for everyone, but I like it. I also have REALLY been enjoying hibiscus "tea" - I boil water, fresh ginger, and then steep some cut and dried hibiscus flowers for about 15 mins. Add the juice of a few limes, sweeten lightly, and dilute with more water. It's a really refreshing drink!

I have found that drinking bottled water at work, really works for me. I know its awful for the environment, but I bring 2 bottles to work each day. Its easy for me to see how I'm doing, and if at the end of the day I haven't drank it all, I down it all before I go home. At home its harder, especially on the weekends. We have so much going on that sometimes I just forget to drink. I've been tempted to try those Mio too, but the dye looks so dark I worry that it will turn my teeth colors!
