Before She Gets Here . . .

Lately I've been realizing just how much I have left to do before Baby Girl gets here . . . and to be honest, it's freaking me out a little bit.

I thought I'd have a lot of the items on my baby "to-do" list accomplished by now, but the last few weeks have been so busy.  I feel like we always have a million meetings and appointments to go to, and before I knew it, it was October 1st and I still hadn't crossed anything off of my to-do list!

I may have had a minor meltdown (but I think it was also partially due to exhaustion at the afore-mentioned busyness).

So here is my Pre-Baby To-Do Wish List.  I'm calling it a wish list because the last three things aren't strictly necessary to accomplish, but I'd still like to get them done, because it probably won't happen after Baby Girl gets here.

1. Finish crib bedding.

This one is coming along nicely, but I still have to bind off the quilt and make the crib skirt . . .

2. Get maternity photos taken.

We have this scheduled for November 11th, but the challenge is figuring out what we're going to wear!  I always feel so much pressure when picking out outfits for photos.

3. Set up Wyatt's toddler bed and start the transition.

I would like to get the bed set up ASAP, but we'll probably wait until sometime in November to try transitioning Wyatt from his crib - I'm thinking we'll start with naps?  We'll see how that goes.

4. Finish buying the baby items we still need.

This is a short list since we got most of the big things with Wyatt, but here is what I still have to get (minus anything I might get at potential baby showers):

-Girl clothes.  This girl needs something to wear!  And my sweet blog friend Melanie got me started with some clothes she sent me in the mail last week - she is such a sweetheart, and the clothes are so cute!

-Crib sheets.

-Mesh bumper.

-Decorative items for her corner of the room.

-Heaband/hat for newborn pictures?

-New mom necessities for me (gown for hospital, nursing stuff, etc.).

-Cloth diapers would also be on this list, but I just got them in the mail the other day!  Sunbaby diapers.  Love them.  And they're so cute.

5. Finish buying and wrapping family Christmas presents!

I have all of our family's presents bought, I just need to wrap them.

6. Christmas shopping for Derek and Wyatt.

I'm thinking I'll do all this shopping on Black Friday this year, try to save some moolah.

7. Try to prepare Wyatt for having a little sister.

As much as he can be prepared at this age anyway.  I have a guest post coming up on this subject soon, so stay tuned!

8. Re-paint Wyatt's room.

Wyatt and the new baby will be sharing a room as soon as she's old enough, so we'll probably paint it a more gender-neutral color.  I'm a little sad to see the blue go, but it'll be nice when it's done I think!

9.   Pre-register for our hospital.

We did this with Wyatt and I think it made it less stressful when we were getting ready to have him.

10. Review birthing info and breathing techniques.

I'd also like to put together a labor music playlist for my phone.

11.  Final baby prep.

I.e. rganizing clothes, sterilizing bottles, getting new batteries in my pump, etc.

12. Finalize a name list!

Just a minor detail - only our baby's name that she'll live with the rest of her life!  We still haven't done this.  It's happening soon though.

13. Decorate for Christmas.

We'll probably scale back on the amount of decorations we'll put up this year since I don't know when she'll come, but I definitely want to get them set up before December!  Saturday after Thanksgiving is kind of our tradition, so I'll probably stick with that.

14.  Clean out the closets/organize our clothes.

This is a huge project, and I'm kind of scared to even start on it.  But I need to get on the ball, because I'm quickly running out of time.

15. Clean out, organize, and back up all my photos from the last year.

This is another huge project, but I'd really like to get this done before she comes.  I don't like to delete my photos off of my memory card until I have them backed up on a disk, and it would be awful to be taking pictures in the hospital or something and have my memory card finally fill up.

And that's it.  It's a much more manageable list than the pre-Wyatt list I had going, but it's still a lot to accomplish!  And October is practically gone because I'll be on vacation next week (yay!), so I need to get moving on this.  I think just typing it out is the first step.

The deadline is December 15th, because I'll be 37 weeks by then.  I'll update again as I cross things off the list!

I am in awe that you already have your Christmas shopping done for your families! That's awesome! And with Natalie being born in December, it took me a while to put away all our decorations. I must confess that the last of them finally got put back in the attic in....July. Oy vey!

I think you'll get EVERYTHING done like you did last time :) I Was just thinking that I need to start a list even though I have a long time left. I haven't even THOUGHT about a nursery or diapers, etc. Christmas shopping I have started though! Yay!
I'm excited to hear what Baby Girl's name is! Thought I assume you won't share until she's born like you did with Wyatt? We did not share before Callyn was born but I can't decide if I want to do that again. Guess we'd have to come up with a name anyway before that matters, haha. Ok, I've rambled enough :)

Okay, I'm looking at registering for cloth diapers and it seems that you know what you're doing with them. I'm interested in the prefolds...any advice?

Being so organized, I'm sure you'll get practically all of it done...I think all expectant moms have to freak out for a moment about their todo list!

Love those cloth diapers! I so wish I had most of my Christmas shopping done..thats been on my mind alot lately too! So glad you liked the little baby girl clothes I sent to you! If you lived close by I'd have you go through ALL my stuff and let you have whatever you need! Don't worry..you'll get all you need for her! Seems with little girls..clothes just magically come from places you least expect it and before you know it you've got more than you need!

"And thats it." That made me smile. I'm sure you'll get everything finished. My list looked a lot like that too, minus the Christmas presents. My little guy is 8 weeks old now and I still haven't bought a video camera (planning to get one this week and use up some Target gift cards), finished his quilt or started his curtains (both just sitting on my craft table).
It will be fun picking out little girl clothes. They always have so much more to choose from.

I've been in the process of moving, but I've still been reading blogs on my phone. I'm sure you'll get all baby things done in time! I wished we had a video camera. We really only take video on the ipad. :/ Maybe we'll get one for Christmas, hopefully in time for Avery's first steps. Eeek let's not talk about that haha. Love the cloth diapers! They are so cute aren't they!? We love bumgenius and Blueberry cloth diapers.
