To Finish The Story...

This weekend we decided to stop by the fire station to see the EMT's that helped deliver Gwendolyn!

I made them some cookies and had a birth announcement addressed to them, along with a note thanking them for everything they did to take care of us on the way to the hospital.  I had tried to drop them off earlier in the week, but none of them were working that day, and a different firefighter told us when they would be on, so Derek and I headed out with the kids on Saturday morning to see them.

Only two of them were working, the other two had the day off.  But the two who were there were so glad we had stopped by!  One of them kept smiling and saying how cool her flower hat was and what  a cute baby she was.  The other one looked at her and said "She has such pretty eyes.  I remember thinking that when she was born, that she had pretty eyes."

I got a picture of them holding Gwen.  I won't share it here but it was cute!

They showed Wyatt the lights on the ambulance, and we went to look at the fire trucks.  As we were walking around I told one of them that my sister is pregnant, and how we were joking that if the same thing happens to her, they've already delivered one baby now!  He said to tell her not to be as stubborn as me and to leave for the hospital earlier!

They said we could come back anytime, and to come back soon because it would be cool to watch Gwen grow.

Overall, I'm so glad we went to visit.  It feels like the whole experience has been brought full circle now, and it just wouldn't feel like a complete story if we hadn't stopped by.

I think we will have to go back soon!  One, so we can try to catch all four of them at once - I'd really like to get a picture of Gwen with all four of them.  And two, because they're right, it would be cool for them to be able to see her grow!  She may be the only baby they ever deliver, and I'd like to keep in touch.  Then they don't have to wonder how she's doing, or what she looks like now.

And just because - here is Gwen's birth announcement, the one we gave them!  I figured they might want to hang it on their bulletin board or something, so they can show people the baby they helped deliver!

P.S.  Pictures taken by our talented friends, Danae and Scott!  More newborn pictures coming soon!

What a special thing for those EMTs! So sweet and thoughtful of you guys to do that. I'm sure they don't often get the thanks they deserve for the life saving work they do :) Great finish to the story!

Aw! I love the photos. Her little headband is so cute. I think I need to get some for Ivy. Every baby blog I read seems to have cute little headbands but people in the UK don't really put them on their babies so they don't sell them very much. I need to get crafty!
