"ABC's of God Loves Me" Review and Giveaway!

I talked in this post about wanting to add more books to Wyatt and Gwen's collection, particularly Christian children's books.  Well, I was so happy when Thomas Nelson also gave me the opportunity to receive "The ABC's Of God Loves Me"!  You can check out a preview here.

This is a really good children's book.  It's a small board book with a handle, so perfect for the car, but the words are so sweet that I kind of hate to put it in the car because I want to read it often to my kids!

Each letter in the alphabet represents a characteristic of God in this book.  The illustrations are really detailed and pretty, and the words rhyme.  I love children's books that are written in poem format.  It's makes it so fun to read, and I think it helps kids to remember the words better too (not to mention teaching kids about rhythm and all that).

I read carefully through all the words to make sure I agreed with them theologically, and I love the characteristics they chose to highlight in this little book.  The only phrase that I wasn't quite sure about was for the letter "X", stating that God is "in the thunder and rain, the rough waves on the sea, and wild winds on a plain".  I don't like saying God is "in" these things, because while He is in the sense that He is everywhere, He is not a part of His creation.  But I honestly think the author was just trying to say that God was behind the thunder and rain, etc, because He created it, and that He is powerful and omnipresent, so I don't have too much of a problem with it.  It's easy enough to clarify.

I think my favorite letters were "M" where it states that Jesus is the Messiah, and "V" where it states that Jesus is victorious over death!  The gospel is woven all through this book and it's stated in ways that little minds will easily understand.

I can't think of a more meaningful way to  teach my kids the ABC's than to incorporate it into biblical truth, and I'm excited to read this book to Wyatt and Gwen as they grow.  I'd recommend it.

Note: I received this book for free from Thomas Nelson in exchange for this review.  This is my honest opinion.

I'm excited to say that Thomas Nelson is giving me the opportunity to give away a copy of "The ABC's of God Loves Me" along with "The Blessings Jar" by Colleen Coble to one lucky reader!  Fill out the Rafflecopter form below to enter!
