"The Blessings Jar" Review and Giveaway!

Lately I've been wanting to buy more children's books for Wyatt and Gwen.

I think it might have started with my boss's baby shower - they requested that everyone bring her a children's book for the baby, and there were so many good ones that I forgot about!

After that I created a whole wish list on Amazon full of children's books that I want to buy for my kiddos, and I think I'm going to be working on buying them gradually over the next couple years.  I'd like my kids to have a good selection.  But that's another post for another day.

One thing that I realized when I was creating my wish list though was that I also want my kids to have a lot of good quality children's books that point them to Jesus!  I don't mind secular books for kids too, because they can be fun, but any opportunity I have to drill God's truth into their little hearts - I'm going to take it.  So I was so excited when Thomas Nelson offered me some great Christian children's books to review!

One of the books they sent me was called "The Blessings Jar"  (you can see a preview here and a free coloring page here) and it was written by an author I've read before, Colleen Coble.  The book is a story of "Punky Grace" learning to see the blessings around her and getting rid of her "grumpies" by filling up a blessing jar her grandma gave her.  I read the back and realized that Coble based the characters on her granddaughter and herself, which I liked!  It added a personal touch to a sweet story.

I loved that the book is a board book, but it's a full-size book too - it seems like a lot of board books are mini-books, and I liked that this was a nice big book with beautiful pictures, and pages that Wyatt can't tear.

When I was paging through it I was worried that Wyatt wouldn't sit through the whole story because he's been so wiggly during book reading lately - but he sat right down and was studying the pages while we read - he really enjoyed it!

This is really a cute book, with a great story, and the illustrations were interesting and included lots of things to hold little ones' attentions.  I loved that it encouraged kids to look for the different blessings that God gives us in our everyday life.  I would definitely recommend this book!

Note: I received this book for free from Thomas Nelson, in exchange for this review.  This is my honest opinion.

I'm excited to say that Thomas Nelson is giving me the opportunity to give away a copy of "The Blessings Jar", along with "The ABC's Of God Loves Me" to one lucky reader! Fill out the Rafflecopter form below to enter!
