Here are a few more pictures of the festivities at Wyatt’s First Birthday Round-Up!

Wyatt was blessed with clothes (he needed new clothes again – the kid grows overnight), toys, stuffed animals, and a play tent!

I have to highlight a couple gifts that were especially thoughtful . . .

My dear blog friend, Rebecca, sent him the sweetest birthday card.  I am definitely keeping it to show to Wyatt when he’s older.

And my dear real-life friend, Ashley, made him these beautiful bibs and personalized fabric blocks! I was so impressed by her hidden talents (she never told me she could sew!).

He wasn’t too sure about it at first, but once he realized how sweet it was he was shoveling it in!

Wyatt with (1.) my mom, (2.) my sister and her fiance, (3.) my dad, (4.) my brother and sister-in-law, (5.) Derek’s mom, (6.) Derek’s dad.  We had a some friends over the next day for a second little celebration, but I didn’t get any good pictures I’m afraid.

We took a family picture on Wyatt’s exact birthday minute, 1:28 PM.

Wyatt was worn out after all that celebrating and took a nap while we enjoyed our cupcakes.

We had a wonderful weekend with our family and friends, celebrating the fact that our little guy has been with us for one whole year!  Thank you to everyone who came and sent presents – you made our parties special!

First Birthday “Round-Up” Party!

Cowboy "Round Up" First Birthday Party | Through Clouded Glass

I tossed around several ideas for Wyatt’s first birthday party theme, but the second that the thought of a cowboy theme came up, I knew that was what I wanted to do.  Here are some pictures of the invitations, decorations, and food for Wyatt’s First Birthday Round-Up!

Invitations:  I made them myself with a blank card set and my scrapbooking software.

1. I ordered a reprint of a 1950’s children’s book to use as a guestbook – guests wrote Wyatt a birthday message on the inside.

2. I made “Cowboy” Coffee Cupcakes and Root Beer Float Cupcakes, and I baked them in mason jars – I made the tags and tied them to the jars with raffia.

3. I made the “Happy Birthday” banner with burlap and cowboy fabric, then stenciled the letters onto it.

5.  Ordered the birthday cake from King Soopers.

6. Root Beer Float station.

7. Monthly picture banner – I used string and mini clothespins to hang up Wyatt’s monthly pictures.  It was a great way for everyone to see how much he’s grown during his first year.

8. We served coffee, and I made the sign that says “Coffee – strong enough to float a horseshoe.”  Derek had all my signs and tags laminated for me.

9.  Wyatt’s highchair, with a sign that says “This seat is reserved for the Birthday Cowboy, Wyatt!”

10.  Guest book station, and I also put out a stuffed bear that Derek bought for me while I was in labor.  I had a picture of Wyatt as a newborn with the bear that I displayed for comparison.  He was barely bigger than that teddy bear!

11.  Chili and cornbread for dinner.

12.  Birthday Boy shirt from Target (on clearance last summer).

13.  Tied the balloons up with thread – so much better than trying to use tape!

The links are either to recipes, or to some of the ideas that we modified or used for our party.
Overall, I’m really happy with the way everything turned out – I gathered everything gradually over the last six months, so it didn’t hurt my wallet much; I had a lot of fun making the banners and signs and putting everything together; the mason jars, rafia, and twine I’ll use for other projects in the future, so the extra won’t go to waste; and the decorations aren’t specific to a first birthday, so I can keep all the decorations and do another cowboy-themed party a few years down the road!

At The Farm

No Moms And Babies post today, I'm afraid - I'm working on rounding up some more ladies to be featured! We should hopefully be back in business next week, but until then, I wanted to recap our third wedding anniversary. I feel like this week has been all recap posts - this will be the last one for a while!

I really wasn't expecting to do anything for our anniversary on Tuesday, since we had our anniversary getaway over Fourth of July weekend. But Derek surprised me by taking half the day off from work and taking Wyatt and me out to dinner!

We went to this cute little "farm" in the middle of the city - they have a restaurant and gift shops and gardens to walk around.

(Wyatt was a little fussy because of getting some vaccines - poor guy. He did pretty well though!)

We ate alot of delicious fattening food, strolled through the grounds, and walked around the gift shops. Derek told me to pick something out for my anniversary gift (which I thought was so sweet), so I got a sachet for my drawers (to make my clothes smell good), and a Woodwick candle. I told Derek he needed to pick something out too, so he picked out a book that he liked.

And of course we had to get something for Wyatt, so I got him a bag of marbles! He'll have to wait a few years to play with them, but I loved marbles as a kid, so I figured he needs some too.

It was such a fun surprise, and we had a lovely time! Thanks for the anniversary date, Babe! Here's to eighty more!
