Watermelon Lemonade Spritzer | Non-Alcoholic Summer Drink Recipe

I was under the impression that August was National Watermelon Month, or something like that.  It only seems appropriate, since August is the last month of summer, and hence the last month that watermelon will be available.

It would have been a very convenient introduction for this post if August was actually National Watermelon Month, but alas, I looked it up and Watermelon month is actually in July.  This seems wrong to me.  But see, I made National Watermelon Month an intro for this recipe anyway.  Maybe I'll just declare it Watermelon Month for my blog instead, because I will be eating as much watermelon as I can before the end of summer!

You know how when you ball a watermelon, and you are left with a remaining watermelon rind filled with watermelon juice?  That stuff is tasty!  I used that juice to experiment with a little drink recipe, and the resulting spritzer was so refreshing and perfect to enjoy before summer is over!

Watermelon Lemonade Spritzer

2 tbsp. honey
1/2 c. watermelon juice
1/2 c. lemonade (from concentrate)
1/2 c. seltzer water
ice

1. Add honey and ice to the bottom of a glass (of course I do not have the ice with the honey in these pictures, but I think it mixes and fizzes better if you add the ice first).

2. Pour watermelon juice, lemonade, and seltzer water over the honey. Mix together.

3. Adjust amount of seltzer water and honey to taste.  I like mine to be less sweet and more fizzy, so I usually add a touch more seltzer water.

I like that it is easy to adjust the amounts of the ingredients in this drink to make it exactly what you want - if you add a bit more seltzer water it is still sweet, but not too sweet, which is just the way I like it.

What is your favorite (non-alcoholic) summer drink?  I'd love to know!

That looks delicious! I love lemonade or limeade during the summer. My favorite is the strawberry lemonade from TGIF. I need to find a way to re-create it. :)

I love finding drinks I like and then trying to recreate them at home! Sometimes they turn out really good!
